BUA Cement Company Plc, in continuation of its 'Resettlement and Sustainable Livelihood Restoration Programme, on Saturday, donated assorted farm inputs worth over N100 million naira to 211 resettled farmers from its host communities.

The initiative, geared towards ensuring food security and empowering host communities was one of the numerous ways BUA Cement extends it Corporate Social Responsibility to host state.

Addressing beneficiaries, BUA's CEO/Managing Director, Engr. Yusuf Binji, reassured that the company remained committed to restoring quality livelihood to all those displaced and resettled because of their quarry operations.

Engr. Binji who was represented by BUA's Cement Assistant Director, Corporate Services, Alhaji Sada Suleiman, stressed that the aim is to amongst others reduce any shock of displacement, boost food production and make resettled communities feel emotionally satisfied.

Speaking earlier, the company's Director, Health, Community, Safety and Environment, Engr. Ali Gumel, admonished beneficiaries to make judicious use of the inputs given to them to allow for self sufficiency in food production.

Explaing the extend to which BUA has gone to ensure appropriate utilization of the agricultural inputs, Engr. Gumel divulged that BUA engaged the Sokoto State Agricultural Development Programme (SADP) to train all beneficiaries on effective usage of the inputs.

Confirming the stand of BUA, the Programme Manager of SADP, Alhaji Abubakar Danmaliki, reassured that they will follow up with routine extension services to ensure that the trained beneficiaries make out the best of the gesture.

Giving specific breakdown of the farm inputs, BUA Cement Plc Social Performance Specialists, Alhaji Rabiu Maska, said it include 422 bags of NPK and 211 bags of Urea fertilizers 211 containers of liquid fertilizer, hundred of herbicides, insecticides, pesticides as well as 50kg bags of improved seedling of paddy rice, maize, cowpea, surghum, groundnut, and moringa amongst others.

Reacting to the gesture, the visibly elated beneficiaries admitted that BUA Cement Plc has been very consistent in assisting them, not only towards ensuring food stability but even granting scholarship to the wards, assisting with cements to executive community projects and the host of others.
