Countdown to the 2027 general elections, political mobilisation machinery of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, under the auspices, "Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A)", has appointed the former Secretary to Niger State Government (SSG), Prof. Mohammed Yahaya Kuta as the organization's state Coordinator.
The appointment of Prof. Yahaya Kuta who also served as Commissioner for Information and Strategy during the Governor Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration is part of major steps aimed at not only strengthening its presence in the state but to assure victory for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and President Tinubu.
Appointment of Kuta is contained in a formal letter dated 26th of August, 2026, signed by the A4A Secretary, Hadiza Bala Usman, titled “Notification of Appointment as Coordinator, Niger State- Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A)”.
Nomination of Prof. Kuta, according to the A4A Secretary was made in furtherance of the organisation's mobilisation efforts towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election mandate across the 19 northern states, Niger state inclusive.
With the appointment, the State Coordinator, according to the statement is expected to provide overall political leadership for A4A across Niger state and as well constitute Niger state Directorate in line with the national structure of the organization.
Prof. Kuta, the statement further explained will be responsible for the daily coordination of the organisation's affairs across the 25 Local Government Areas (LGAs) through local Coordinators who will also be reporting directly to him.
Yahaya Kuta is also mandated to drive state-level mobilisation, activation of wings and as well communications delivery while making sure that reports from across the 25 LGAs is in turn submitted to the Deputy National Coordinator North-Central.
Secretary of the A4A explaining the rationale behind the nomination said the choice of Kuta reflects the confidence placed in his pedigree and standing politically in Niger state.
The stayement also indicated that activities of A4A are coordinated by the Northern Projects Coordination Office (NPCO), which provides contents guidelines and messaging direction across the organization's structure.
Further details concerning the composition of the A4A Niger State Directorate and the appointments of LGA Coordinators, the letter pointed out, would be subsequently communicated alongside arrangements for the organisation's official launch.
The development comes as political activities and mobilisation efforts gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with various political support organisations seeking to establish stronger grassroots structures across the country.
The proposed A4A structure in Niger state to be coordinated by Prof. Kuta, the letter indicated is expected to provide additional platforms for political mobilisation and engagements, particularly across rural communities. NNL.
