Worried by the possibility of losing the 2023 Presidential slot presumed to be the turn of the Igbos of the East of Southern Nigeria, prominent political leaders in Igboland and from across the various political parties, converged at Igbere, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia state, to deliberate on modalities of to get the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political platforms to zone the 2023 presidency to the southeast geo-political zone.

A presidential aspirant for the Ohaneze Ndigbo election and a security expert, Dr. Valentine Iheukwumere Oparaocha, has observed that what the Igbo man needs most is the security of their lives and businesses. He promised to pursue this objective if voted into power as the next president of the Igbo socio-cultural organization.

Renowned Politician and Nigeria's former Presidential hopeful, Chief Chekwas Okoro, has lambasted prominent Yoruba politician, Senator Anthony Adefuye, for what he viewed as his illogical comments recently, claiming that the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, is actually of Igbo origin and not Yoruba.
