A state chapter of a civil society alliance has established specialised committees to spearhead resource mobilisation, media engagement and programme implementation as part of efforts to strengthen its operations and expand its impact.
The decision was reached during the alliance's quarterly meeting where members adopted a comprehensive six-month work plan designed to guide activities and improve organisational effectiveness.
The State Chapter Chairperson doubled as Coordinator, Dabis Mwalike said the alliance was responding to emerging challenges facing civil society organisations, particularly dwindling donor support and increasing competition for funding.
She disclosed that a Resource Mobilisation Committee had been constituted to identify funding opportunities and explore partnerships that would support the alliance's programmes.
Similarly, a Media Engagement Committee was created to improve visibility and strengthen public awareness of the alliance's activities.
According to her, the alliance intends to draw on the diverse experiences and expertise of member organisations to achieve its objectives.
"We are not looking at financial resources alone. We are also considering the skills, knowledge and networks that members bring to the alliance. These are valuable assets that can help us achieve our goals," she said.
The chairperson noted that the committees would be given the necessary support to drive implementation while promoting wider participation among members.
Mwalike added that resource mapping exercises were already underway to identify opportunities that could be harnessed over the next six months.
She described the meeting as successful, citing the impressive turnout and active contributions from members as indicators of renewed commitment to the alliance's vision. NNL.
