Former Speaker of the third and fourth Nasarawa state House of Assembly, Dr Musa Ahmed Mohammed, on Wednesday, apologized to the state for holding down governance following an impeachment embarked on the Assembly members against the then governor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

Speaking while unveiling a Compendium of the state Assembly's 23 years of legislation, the former Speaking regretted the actions of the then Lawmaker considered to have held down governance in the state.

"On behalf of the members of the Fourth Assembly, we are all aware of the impeachment move against the former Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura even though it was the power of the constitution that came into played during the period, I want to say that we are sorry to the people of Nasarawa State as it would have slowed down development if the impeachment was successful", the speaker declared.

The Former Speaker who was the chairman of the event, urged the present Assembly to give the executive arm of government their total support and cooperation to succeed, adding that the Compendium will serve as reference materials in the state.

He also appreciated both the executive and legislative arms of government in the state for maintaining good and cordial working relationship, which, he said, has led to peace and development in the state.

Earlier, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, had said at the launch of the compendium, that it was a historical record of immense legislative value being the first of it's kind in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly since the advent of democracy in 1999.

"The Compendium titled " Nasarawa State House of Assembly Compendium 2022: The Journey So Far, 1999- 2022, is a publication set out to give a synopsis of the major activities, events and people that left indelible impacts on the journey of the state Assembly since it's inception in 1999.

"We came here to present to our leaders and by extension the public, a historical record of immense legislative values being the first of it's kind in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly since the Advent of democracy"

"Having known full well that as a leader, three judgements awaits one: that is the judgement of God, the judgement of the people and the judgement of posterity, and in my attempt to fulfill my obligations in line with the judgment of posterity that await me as a leader of the State Assembly, came the idea to do a compendium", the speaker stated.

"This effort is to serve as reference materials and working document not only for the House, but for the State and the Country as well. So, both the present and future generations as well as posterity will drink from the fountain of knowledge contained in this important Compendium," he added.

While commending his Chief Press Secretary, Jibrin Gwamna and his team for embarking on the compilation of the Compendium, he said it was a job well done. The speaker requested the team that will come after them to maintain the records and to keep updating the good work of the legislation.

He called on the people of the state, to, without hindrance, continue to pray and give their support and loyalty to Gov. Abdullahi Sule and other leaders in order so as to take the state to a greater height.

Gov. Sule in his speech while unveiling the 218 page compendium, however attributed the development of the state to the good working relationship that had existed over the years between the legislators, and described the compendium as a historical property and source of inspiration for future generation,.."

Represented by his deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, governor Sule described the Assembly's Compendium as a historical property and source of inspiration for future generation, the governor congratulated the Speaker, the principal officers and the Honourable members for putting together the material. He stressed that the Compendium will not only benefit the present crop of the state, but the future generations.

He added that the achievements his administration has recorded so far was due to the good working relationship and support of the House and called for its sustenance. NNL.
