The Local Government Congresses of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Gombe State were characterized by consensus in all the Local Government Areas of the State.
Reports gathered by NIGERIAN NEWS-LEADER Correspondent in Gombe, the Gombe capital, showed that all the 11 Local Government Areas of the State adhered to the consensus arrangement agreed upon during the State's APC stakeholders meeting held earlier.
In Idi Primary School Gombe where Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya participated in the Congress for Gombe Local Government, it was held peacefully and orderly.
The Governor expressed optimism that the new executives would work for the party’s victory in the next general election. He said, “at party level, we are ready for anyone, we do not fear anybody because we are sure of victory.
He also stated that the whole world should know that "we are in charge. I want to assure our supporters that very soon APC will have 100 percent representation from the grassroots to the top."
Chairman of the Gombe State Congress committee, Dr. Danjuma Dabo, said the exercise commenced with the inauguration of ward executives which were elected and subsequently followed by the affirmation of the LG executives.
According to him, the exercise is being conducted simultaneously across the 11 Local Government Areas of the State in accordance with APC guidelines.
In his words, "the exercise was conducted in accordance with guidelines of the party, I do not want to hear anything contrary because we have agreed to adopt consensus method,” he explained.
As at the time of filing this report on Saturday evening, Shongom, Gombe and Balanga Local Government Areas had already completed the exercise with new executives put in place for each of the LGA's. NNL.
