Barely a month after 8 out of 10 Councillors in Chanchaga Local Government Council (LGC) of Niger state suspended the chairman over alleged financial impropriety amongst others, another chairman, Hajiya Ladidi Rakiya Bawa Bosso have been suspended over alleged abuse of office and desecration of Bosso LG laws amongst others by 7 of the LG Councillors.
Incidentally, Chanchaga and Bosso are the two Local Government Areas that made up Minna the state capital, facing same political storm few months to the November when they were expected to quit, according to the state government's political time table.
Also, against the Governor Bago led administration's resolve to encourage more women's active participation in politics, Ladidi Bosso 'Alert' as she is fondly called, is the only female council chairman under the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), serving her second term.
Ladidi Bosso was among the first set of decampees from the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), she contested and won her first term in office during the Governor Mua'zu Babangida Aliyu led administration.
In quick turn of events, the suspension order dated, Tuesday, 26th August, 2025, said, "Pursuant to the provisions of the Local Government Laws of Niger state, and following due process, the Bosso Local Government Legislative Council, at its duly convened sitting of today, Tuesday, 26th August, 2025, considered a motion on allegations of gross misconduct against the Chairman of Bosso Local Government Council, Hon. Ladidi Rakiya Bawa Bosso".
"Upon deliberations, and in strict compliance with the law, a vote was taken. Out of the total membership of the Council, seven (7) Councillors constituting the statutory three-quarter (3/4) majority voted in favour of your suspension".
The allegations against the Chairman includes, but not limited to: abuse of office, desecration of local government laws, financial impropriety, harassment, extortion, and intimidation and failure to convene statutory council meetings as at and when due, and other acts of gross misconduct found to be inconsistent with the oath of office.
Accordingly, the Councillors hereby resolved that Hon. Ladidi Rakiya Bawa Bosso is suspended from office with immediate effect, the suspension memo further indicated.
"In line with Niger State Local Government Laws, formal notice of this suspension has been duly transmitted to the state Governor to constitute a Committee of Investigation to inquire into the allegations and report its findings within the prescribed period".
