Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Dr Ikioye Orutugu, has re-echoed the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu on zero tolerance for corruption and unprofessional conduct among officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Police Commissioner noted that the Police Force belongs to all Nigerians and must remain accountable to the people.
The CP gave the directive on Wednesday during a briefing with officers at the Command Headquarters, Awka, where he emphasized the need for strict adherence to professional ethics, discipline, and respect for the rule of law in the discharge of their duties.
Dr Orutugu warned that the Command will not tolerate any form of misconduct, including extortion, abuse of office, and other unprofessional acts capable of undermining public trust and confidence in the Police. He stressed that any officer found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary action in line with extant regulations.
The Command's Police boss further noted that the Presidential order on the stoppage/withdrawal of Police personnel from unauthorized VIP protection duties remains in force and directed strict compliance by all officers.
He cautioned against the misuse of Police personnel for private engagements not officially approved, adding that defaulters will be sanctioned accordingly.
The Commissioner reiterated the importance of people-friendly policing, respect for human rights, and professionalism in security service delivery, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
The Anambra State Police Command, according to a statement on Wednesday by its Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property while upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability. NNL.
