Barring any last-minute change in arrangements or of the event, the 5th annual conference of Nigeria's Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) is set to hold on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos.

A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of GOCOP, Olumide Iyanda, said the conference will actually commence on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, with a business session.

According to Iyanda, the facilitators at the business session are Messers Musikilu Mojeed (Editor-in-Chief of Premium Times), Remmy Nweke (the Group Executive Editor of DigitalSENSE Africa Media Limited), and Tom Chiahemen (Editor-in-Chief/CEO of NATIONAL ACCORD).

Iyanda also revealed that Corporate Affairs Managers from the public and private sectors will also be hosted to lunch on the opening day of the conference. And all programs on an opening day will be restricted to invited guests only.

The theme of the two-day GOCOP's conference is: “COVID-19 Pandemic: Recovery and Reconstruction in Nigeria". The digital media confab is expected to be attended by all registered members and prospective members of GOCOP who have been invited to the occasion.

Meanwhile, the special guests already billed for the conference, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, have confirmed their participation.

GOCOP's Spokesman, Olumide Iyanda, hinted that governor Sanwo-Olu’s presence at the proposed conference was confirmed to the organizing committee of the event by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, while the SGF, Boss Mustapha’s participation was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary, General Service Office, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri, through a letter dated September 14, 2021.

According to GOCOP, Governor Sanwo-Olu will be Chairman on the second day of the conference on October 7 when the SGF will deliver a keynote address on the conference theme. The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, and Director, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr. Yahya Disu, will serve as panelists.

GOCOP explained that the choice of topic and participants at the conference was conceived in line with the current contemporary political, economic, security, socio-cultural challenges confronting Nigeria arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, which has crippled socio-cultural and economic activities in Nigeria and in the global sphere.
