• AKPABIO, GLOBAL PEACE AND NEED FOR PROMPT LEGISLATIVE ACTION.

    By Edward Usoro

"It isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at it." - Eleanor Roosevelt

The President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, obviously took Roosevelt seriously when he went to Angola, recently, for the 147th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). Hence, as a very practical leader, he felt mere talks about “parliamentary action for peace, justice and strong institution”, would be meaningless without appropriate actions.

The AA governorship contender said in a media statement shortly after his declaration that: "With every sense of humility and immense gratitude to Almighty God, I announce my new political home. It is Action Alliance!

“Over the last Four weeks, l sought the face of our Most High God for political direction. Following that spiritual process, l have found myself as the Governorship candidate of Action Alliance in Anambra 2021 governorship election.”

Etiaba restated than he defected from the APC due to the controversial primary that gave victory to one of his co-contenders, Senator Andy Uba.

“While I say goodbye to All Progressives Congress without bitterness and wish the Party well having resigned my membership of APC at my Umudim Nnewi Ward 1 before my registration in my new party, Action Alliance, at my Ward on Thursday 29th July 2021, l do look forward to ushering in a new political era for myself and prayerfully for Anambra State.” NNL.
