* Urges Other Aspirants To Step Down For Him

The Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders in Nasarawa State, said in Lafia that the former Governor and the Senator representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, remains their best candidate for the position of National Chairman in the party's National Convention now slated for March 26, 2022.
The group in a statement made available to Journalists in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital by it's Chairman, Kassim Muhammed-Kassim who is also an aide to Governor Abdullahi Sule, noted that the endorsement of Senator Adamu was based on a credible information the council received from some high echelon of the APC membership including President, Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the Chairman of the group, President Buhari has "clearly thrown his weight behind the former Governor's ambition to lead the party". He therefore called on other aspirants to accept the choice of Abdullahi Adamu by withdrawing from the race in the interest of the party and the nation at large.
He commended President Buhari and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC for agreeing to zone the national chairmanship of the party to the North Central.
"We are thanking President Muhammadu Buhari for finding Nasarawa state worthy of this kind gesture. We promise that the state will not disappoint him and the party. What Senator Abdullahi Adamu needs now is the cooperation of all stakeholders of the party across the nation to build on the gains of governor Mai Mala Buni-led national executive.
"We are also appealing to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state to sacrifice his presidential ambition in order to pave way for the north central to produce the national chairman of the party. We are hoping that he (Kogi Governor) would see the need to respect the decision of the party, even though we knew that it is his constitutional right to contest any election", the statement said.
The statement further added that Adamu, the first civilian Governor of Nasarawa state who served the state from 1999 till 2007, a former presidential aspirant and currently a three term Senator at the national assembly, has all the credentials to lead the party to victory in the 2023 general elections and beyond.
"Senator Adamu is a widely accepted and well known politician in Nigeria. He believes in the leadership qualities of President Buhari and we know that he will take the party to greater heights if he is given the opportunity to emerge as national chairman of the APC.
"It is on this note that we are calling on all contestants across the country to accept our endorsement of Senator Abdullahi Adamu for the unity, peace and progress of the APC in 2023 and beyond", the statement added. NNL.
