Former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim and his successor, Senator Bukola Saraki as well as former governor of Cross River State, Lyiel Imoke, were among the eminent leaders of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who visited Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Tuesday August 3, 2023, to reconcile all the aggrieved members of the party in Oyo State and other parts of Nigeria.
On arrival at Ibadan, the PDP leaders went into long hours of meeting with the disputing party members. At the end of the meeting, the leaders and the aggrieved members wore smiling faces, an indication that the peace parley was a huge success.
Nigerian NewsLeader Correspondent reliably learnt that the internal grievances in the party however led to the recent defection of many PDP members in Oyo state to other parties. For instance, it was for the same reasons of grievances that prompted two governors from the PDP defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The two governors are Professor Ben Ayade of Cross River State and Dr Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State.
It is however expected that the on-going reconciliation in the PDP will help the to reposition ahead of the 2023 general elections. NNL.
