The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) has been accused of playing numerous roles in an alleged deliberate effort to destabilize the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Sokoto State..
Bitterly expressing their disappointment with Malami's open endorsement of one of the factional leader of the party in Sokoto last weekend, was Hon Isa Sadiq Achida, whose faction in the party has been affirmed the "authentic" Sokoto State Chairman of the APC.
Achida wondered why "someone of the Attorney General's caliber could go so low as doing the biddings of those who never meant well for the party in the State", he claimed.
Addressing a press conference at the State APC Secretariat in Sokoto, Hon. Sadiq Isa Achida inferred that, the Minister of Justice is not fit to hold such an office hence he appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently remove him as Attorney General of country "to avoid further damage to the party and country's judicial system.
Reading a statement titled, "Abubabar Malami and Ibrahim Shekarau On A Mission To Destabilize Sokoto APC", Achida decried what he described about the Attorney General, Abubakar Malami, is a "curse rather than an asset to the APC".
The statement read in part:."We in the Sokoto State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), deem it important to correct the wrong impression being created by the "two political wanderers" that came to Sokoto on the 27th of February, 2022. These two politicians, are non other than "Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice."
While noting that their mission in Sokoto was dead on arrival, Hon Achida insisted that no "gang up or unholy alliance of political mischief makers, can destroy the APC in Sokoto State", Hon. Achida said.
He wondered why the Attorney General, Malami, should openly comment on an issue that is before the Appeal Court, noting that, he must have instructed the Court to do his biddings which they are sure will not materialize at the long run.
"By this singular act of recognising a faction of the APC in Sokoto State, having known that the matter is still pending before the Court of Appeal, he has breached the sanctity of the Constitution and his oath of office, which requires him not to allow his personal interest to influence his official conduct or official decisions. The oath of office also requires him to do right to all manner of people, without fear or favour, affection of ill-will".
Having allegedly gone contrary to this Constitutional provision, Hon Sadiq Achida, therefore called on the National Chairman of the APC to expel the Attorney General, Abubakar Malami (SAN) from the party because of the numerous roles he played in destabilizing the APC in Sokoto, Kano, Kebbi, Zamfara amd Kwara States among others.
"Indeed, Abubakar Malami is a curse rather than an asset to the APC and the earlier he is cut to size, the better for our Great Party", Hon. Achida said. NNL.
