Presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25th poll, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Wednesday, visited Nigeria's former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) and ex-Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) at their hilltop residences in Minna, Niger state, where he had a separate closed door session with them.
Although it was not clear, as at press time, the purpose of Atiku's visit or what he discussed with the two leaders, but it may not be unconnected with the outcome of the Saturday February 25th presidential election which results are still being contested by both Mr Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP) and PDP's Atiku Abubakar, after the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Spokesman to the former Vice President, Mr Paul Ibe, described the Minna meeting as "fruitful". Atiku Abubakar who is the Wazirin Adamawa and who led the PDP in a post-election protest March to the INEC headquarters in Abuja on Monday, is said to be totally displeased with the outcome of the presidential election.
Atiku reportedly returned to Yola, Adamawa State capital, shortly after the meeting with Babangida and Abubakar, for the forthcoming governorship and State House of Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday March 11, 2023. NNL.
