The leadership of the Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) has disassociated itself from the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), an umbrella body that pilots the affairs of Primary School Teachers across the Country.

The Executive Chairman, TSUBEB in Taraba State, Dr. Yakubu Agbaizo, made the disclosure while inaugurating the new Officials of the Association of Basic Education Teachers in the State.

At the event which was held on Friday, November 26, 2021, at the Banquet Hall of Taraba Motel, Jalingo, Agbaizo said TSUBEB has had a cordial working relationship with NUT, especially at the National level by supporting them to succeed.

He further disclosed that during its partnership with NUT, TSUBEB never at any time, failed to pay its Dues.

"To my dismay, NUT failed to reciprocate the gesture but went ahead to disrespect the Board and Teachers from Taraba. We gave them every necessary support, particularly at the National level, but they related to us as second class citizens, using unguarded utterances at our Leaders and Teachers", he said.

The TSUBEB Chairman who described Arch. Darius Ishaku as a governor that has much regard for Taraba Teachers, pledged partnership with the new Leadership of Association of Basic Education Teachers in the State.

He charged them to participate in mobilizing the Teachers in doing the right thing, stressing that situations where Teachers will gather under a tree and be engaging in buying and selling of products and neglecting their duty posts, will no longer be tolerated.

In his acceptance speech, the pioneer Chairman/Managing of the Association of Basic Education Teachers in Taraba State, Comrade Asoushi Bulus, lauded Governor Ishaku for investing so much in the Education sector in the State.

Comrade Asoushi added that Governor Ishaku approved the employment of Rescue Teachers, initiated the construction and renovation of Schools in the 16 LGAs of the State and engaged in prompt payment of Teachers Salaries, among others.

While pledging to justify the confidence reposed on him and his colleagues, the Chairman opined that he will work hand-in-hand with the Governor's administration to ensure peace and unity and to dialogue with Government, so as to overcome the numerous challenges faced by both Primary and Secondary School Teachers in the State.
