The leadership of the Southern Nigeria and the Middle Belt Forum has announced the suspension of all public engagements of the group for a period of 30 days for the mourning of one of its leaders and Afenifere spokesman, Comrade Yinka Odumakin, who passed on in Lagos on Good Friday, April 2, 2021, after a brief illness.
In a statement by the leader of the group, Elder statesman and Ijaw national leader, Chief (Dr) Edwin K. Clark, and dated Saturday, April 3, 2021, the Southern Nigeria and Middle Belt leaders said during the one month mourning period, the group will refrain from engaging in public activities including their period meetings.
"This, we believe, is a modest and fitting honor to one of the most outspoken, inspirational, and patriotic Nigerian ever. We, therefore, like to make a public apology to various groups who have invited our participation in meetings, conferences, and similar activities.
"We will like to, once more, convey our deepest condolences to his widow, Dr (Mrs) Joe Okei-Odumakin, his aged parents, the rest of the Odumakin family, and our compatriots of Afenifere. May Yinka's courageous soul Rest In Peace", the statement said. NNL.
