As part of activities lined up for the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, on Saturday, conducted inter-faith prayers for the repose of the souls of all fallen heros and divine protection for those in the service, as well as return of peace to every part of the country.

Leading the prayers, both the 8 Div Chaplain, Lieutenant Colonel Elimi Clement and the Chief Imam of the Giginya barracks, Lieutenant Abubakar Muhammad, urged service men to continually seek the face of God, adding that He will grant them victories against the enemies of the land.

Speaking at the venue of the prayer before proceeding for a sanitation exercise at Danny's opposite the barracks, the General Officer Commanding, (GOC), Major General Uwem Bassey, honoured one Samson Kefas for his honesty in returning found expensive mobile phone to the owner.

The GOC who was represented by the 8 Div Garrison Commander, Brigadier General Ralph Nnemeife, also presented cash gift and a plaque to Samson, the 22 years old son of one of the fallen heros.

General Nnemeife further appreciated Samson's honesty and advised other youths to emulate his conduct and uphold the tenets of sincerity demonstrated by the young orphan.

"We are honouring this young man, Samson Kefas, today for despite being an orphan, he found an "expensive" phone and returned it to the owner without requesting for any gratification".

Brigadier General Nnemeife also led the military to conduct sanitation exercise from the ever busy 'Welcome to Sokoto' road through Danbua and Tamaje settlements within the Sokoto metropolis.

General Nnemeife who personally participated in the sanitation exercise on behalf of the GOC, Maj General Uwem Bassey, however stressed that cleanliness is next to Godliness, hence they are cleaning civilian settlements as a demonstration of their cordial civil-military relationship.

Military personnel of the 8 Div participated in the sanitation exercise with enthusiasm, seeing how civilians were marvelled at their show of humility. NNL.
