The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti Corruption, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has expressed shock over the capsizing of a boat in Wara, Ngaski Local Government of Kebbi State, where over a hundred people are still missing.
The boat was said to be carrying over a hundred and sixty passengers including women and children traveling to market before it capsized on Wednesday while crossing River Niger.
Efforts were reported to be on by divers to recover all the drowned passengers, with only twenty-two of the victims already rescued and taken to the hospitals for treatment, while five dead bodies were also recovered.
Reacting to the sad development, Senator Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, described it as not only very unfortunate but saddening and shocking.
While praying for the safe recovery of the yet to be found victims, as well as the speedy recovery of those already salvaged, Senator Aliyu Wamakko also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the souls of the deceased Aljannat Firdaus, and give their various families, the people and Government of Kebbi State, the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses.
