Renowned Benin-city, Edo State transporter and Chairman of IYARE MOTORS, Chief Abel Omoruyi, is dead.

Omoruyi who is referred as 007, reportedly died on Friday night allegedly after a brief illness.

His demise was confirmed on Saturday by the Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki. The Edo governor said Omoruyi is a great businessman and philanthropist who has touched the lives of many people, adding that he would be missed by Edo people.

The Iyare Motors chairman, Governor Obaseki said, was a "...visionary, beacon of hope, and a rare breed of leader who epitomized the very bestof the human spirit. He is a thoroughbred businessman and philanthropist extraordinaire".

Governor Obaseki also stated that, " His unwavering commitment to excellence, doggedness, and penchant for innovation will remain a shinning example for generations to come".

The death of Iyare Motors owner was first made public by one Mr Igbinidu Charles Osaretin on his social media page (Facebook). He wrote: "Rest in Peace Mr Abel Omoruyi (JP), Chairman/CEO of Iyare Motors. Astute businessman, philanthropist and community leader. Egba Community and millions of your admirers will surely miss you".

The Iyare Motors owner was reputed to be one of the major present generation of Benin based transporters whose fleet of ultra-modern commuter buses and other range of vehicles have solved the transport needs of Nigerians across the state, cities and towns of the country where they operate station offices.
