The Bauchi State Police Command has warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, assuring residents of adequate security arrangements.

The command said it has put in place measures to tackle crimes commonly associated with festive periods, including Sara-Suka violence, phone snatching and pickpocketing.

In a statement by its spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the police said all operational units have been directed to intensify surveillance and maintain a visible presence across major public places.

The command also called on parents and guardians to monitor their wards in order to prevent reckless behaviour during the celebrations.

Residents were advised to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.

The police further assured that it is working closely with other security outfits and community leaders to ensure a safe and peaceful Sallah celebration in the state. NNL.
