The wife of Niger State Governor, Dr. Amina Abubakar Sani Bello, has flagged off the second phase of the Covid 19 vaccination and routine immunization against killer diseases for Children in Chanchaga and Bosso local government areas of the state.

Speaking at the flag-off which took place at the Chanchaga Primary Health Care (PHC) center, Minna metropolis, the Governor’s wife said it is important for Nigerians to be mindful of the evolving nature of Corona-virus which has claimed millions of lives globally.

She emphasized the need for all eligible Nigerlites to go for the second jab and also be ready for the third one to serve as a booster if the need arises due to the nature of the virus, adding that it is important for Nigerians to adhere strictly to protocols to avoid deaths.

While encouraging stakeholders to mobilize all eligible families members and communities to go for the vaccination for protection, Dr. Amina Sani Bello said the Covid-19 vaccination is free and does not have side effects as being insinuated.

Covid-19 pandemic is still very much potent and spreading across the world, Nigeria inclusive hence the need for every one citizen to present him/herself to be vaccinated against the virus which at the moment has no known cure

The state government will continue to conduct high impact health programs for the benefit of women and children especially, adding that medical experts, will, before the end of this week, carry out vitamin A supplementation for children aged 6 months to 59 months, de-worming of children as well as providing antenatal care for Nursing mothers.

Sadly, children born outside hospitals were not being registered, according to Amina Bello, is not good enough and therefore urged parents to take full advantage of the birth registration with the issuance of certificates being offered by the government hospitals.

Also speaking, Niger State Coordinator of the National Health Care Development Agency, Mrs. Felicia Adeosun, said it is unfortunate that many homes and families were yet to accept the fact that covid-19 exists.

Niger State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mohammed Makusidi, who spoke through Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Dangana, the Executive Director, Niger PHC said the state government has commenced renovation and upgrading of the general hospitals in Minna, Suleja, Kontagora Tunga-Magajiya, and Suleja to enable the grassroots dwellers to have excess to quality and affordable medications.
