The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has flagged off the orientation ceremony for 46 graduates of the B-NOAS to commenced the advanced national open apprenticeship scheme in Sokoto.
The 46 graduates of the B-NOAS were drawn from the 23 local government areas of the State
Flagging off the orientation in the State NDE office, the Acting Director-General of NDE, Mal Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, represented by Sokoto State Coordinator of NDE, Mrs. Eunice Danmalam said the scheme was geared towards giving participants the skills to become employers of labor and further helped in reducing unemployment.
According to the DG in his keynote address, the A-NOAS will help acquaint participants with modern methods of service delivery in specific trades, sharpen their skills using the advanced technology available in Industries and corporate outfits.
'Fipko also added that the A-NOAS will further help graduates of the B-NOAS to be more marketable, open doors of increased employment and above all, help curb societal crimes such as kidnappings, prostitution, drug addiction as well as child trafficking amongst others.
"I am glad to inform you that the capacity of the NDE as the leading Federal Government Agency in skill acquisition, job creation, employment generation, and poverty reduction in Nigeria has once again been demonstrated.
"Today, we are flagging off the training of 46 graduates of our B-NOAS into A-NOAS training in the 23 local government areas of Sokoto State, in various vocational skills such as welding, handset repairs, motorcycles repairs, knitting, fashion design, computer appreciation, and hairdressing.The training is at no cost what so ever"
One of the male beneficiaries, Malam Aliyu Abubakar Makama, while responding on behalf of others thanked the NDE for its foresight even as he noted that sustaining such will go a long way in reducing unemployment in Nigeria
On her part, Fatimah Mustapha who spoke on behalf of female beneficiaries appealed to all of them to show more dedication to the cause hence it's more beneficial to render help in the family than being a redundant housewife. NNL.
