The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Taraba state has engaged 20 participants in school-on-wheel skills acquisition training in Taraba state.
In the orientation program in Jalingo, the Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, said the skill acquisition program is on-going across 8 states in the federation with the approval to recruit 160 participants in which 20 were shortlisted in Taraba.
Fikpo urged the participants to diligently and delightfully engage in training to reduce the rate of employment among youths in the society. Fikpo who was represented by Alhaji. Saidu Ibrahim, the principal accountant of the finance department, charged the participants to take the training serious and that they should be happy that they are chosen among thousands of people that were screened.
He also asked the participants to engage in the training for the purpose of learning and not because they will be giving loan at the end of the day. He stressed that there will be fashion design training, computer training and also peace initiative which is very vital in our society.
In his remarks, the NDE State Coordinator, Alhaji Danjuma Shehu, said that “we were able to identify one beneficiary per each community in which we drafted 20 participants.
“The target group are unskilled youths in rural areas who wish to be trained in skills relevant to the modern world. After recruitment and documentation of the beneficiaries, there will be an induction course to enable the beneficiaries to acquire full knowledge of the program and what is expected of them, “ he said.
He also added that the training will take 3 months to be completed which is aimed at instilling a positive attitude in the beneficiaries and also enabling them to cope with the daily activities and the critical need to be self-employed. NNL.
