The remaining pupils and staff abducted from the St. Mary’s Catholic private primary and secondary school, Papiri in Agwarra Local Government Area of Niger state have been released, but on their way to Minna.

Over 300 students and staff of St. Mary's Catholic private primary and secondary school were abducted when attackers said to have operated for some hours unchallenged invaded the school in their numbers armed with highly sophisticated weapons.

Though the exact number of the last batch of students and staff who are on their way to Minna as at the time of filing this report were still sketchy, as rumours had it that some of the students had due to long distance trek.

Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and Bishop of Kontagora Diocese who is the proprietor of the school, Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna confirmed their release in a statement Sunday night.

The statement signed by the Media Aide to the CAN chairman, Dan Atori said that Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago called his boss to inform him about the good news a few minutes ago.

"The Governor called the CAN chairman few minutes ago to confirm the release of the children and the teachers".

The statement however indicated that the figure was not mentioned as they are expected to be in Minna on Monday and to be received by the Governor himself in government house". NNL.
