The new Niger State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Monday Bala Kuryas, has assumed duty.

Kuryas replaces Adamu Usman who was among the Police Commissioners recently promoted to the rank of AIG and redeployed to another zone.

CP Kuryas, from Kurya-Daddu in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna state, holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Political Science from the Usman Dan-Fodio University (UDU), Sokoto state in 1986.

He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) as a Cadet ASP in the year 1990 and has served in various capacities within the Force, including Area Commander, Lafia, Nasarawa State, between 2012 and 2015 and as well as Area Commander Nsukka, Enugu state in 2015 till 2017.

Other positions held are; the Deputy Commissioner Operations, Kogi State Police Command between 2017 and 2019, DC Operations, Zone 11 Osogbo Osun state 2019 and 2020, DC Operations, Ondo State Police Command between 2020 and 2021.

CP Monday Bala Kuryas was later deployed as Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, and later to Lagos as Commissioner, Anti-Fraud section FCID Annex Lagos where he was before his transfer to Niger state.

The 35th Commissioner of Police, Niger state, Kuryas has attended several professional courses, seminars, and workshops; some of which include; Combat Operations Course, Intermediate Command Course, Tactical Leadership, and Command Course (TLCC), and Senior Command Course respectively.

The new CP who resumed duty on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, also attended the National Institute for Security Studies, Abuja for an Executive Intelligence Management Course which earned him "fellow of security institute" (of).

Kuryas, according to a press statement signed by DSP Wasiu A. Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger State Command, has utilized his wealth of experience in high profile cases including, armed robbery, armed banditry, and kidnappings.

While soliciting for the support and cooperation of the citizenry to assist the new Police Commissioner in checking all forms of crime and criminalities, Abiodun said Monday Kuryas is also a recipient of many Certificates of Commendation and Awards for bravery, hard work, and selfless service.
