The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has expressed relief that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum has pledged its support for the efforts of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration towards solving the problem of insecurity in the country.
It will be recalled that the PDP Governors had at a press conference after their meeting in Abuja, pledged to team up with the President Buhari administration in its efforts to tackle the security challenges facing the country.
In a statement by its Chairman, Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary, Cassidy Madueke, BMO says it believes that the PDP Governors’ decision is not only desirable but welcome development, especially at this time the country needs all hands on deck to address the problems.
"It is also gratifying that the PDP has climbed down from its high horse to understand and appreciate that what the country needs in this challenging time is the cooperation of all and sundry in order to defeat evil men and women terrorizing the country and its citizens.
"By throwing their support and pledging to work with the Buhari administration we want to believe that the PDP Governors have decided to play responsible opposition, rather than using the media to deride all actions of the President Buhari administration, including the tangible efforts it has been making at curbing the spread of insecurity in Nigeria.
"We wish to restate that security is everybody’s business and requires a collective approach by all the stakeholders for it to be successfully tackled".
The group also noted that the President deserves accolades for living up to the expectations of Nigerians in the area of security as the situation would have deteriorated, "and we strongly believe that the new measures being taken by the President in addressing insecurity, including the recent change of service chiefs, will go a long way to restore normalcy in all the troubled spots in the country.
"Going forward, we hope that the PDP will, in words and deeds, join the Federal Government in its efforts to wipe out terrorists, armed robbers and bandits from all corners of the country, and this it can do by proffering workable solutions", the statement added. NNL.
