* Says Nigeria A Great Country
By Ankeli Emmanuel (Sokoto)
Sokoto State governor, Amimu Waziri Tambuwal, has said the unity of Nigeria is very crucial hence the call on all and sundry to continue to work towards sustaining a country that works for all irrespective of region, religion, political inclination and ethnicity.
Tambuwal who gave the advise while addressing members of the National Youths Council of Nigeria (CYCN) at the International Conference cente, Kasarawa, within Sokoto metropolis, added that the issue of insecurity confronting Nigeria must not be politicized by anybody including the Presidency.
While stressing that there is the need to nurture and harness the potentials of Nigeria's teeming youths for the responsibility of becoming future leaders, Tambuwal noted that towards achieving that his administration is investing in education and agriculture to give youths the competitive advantage of being responsible citizens.
The governor who further decried that insecurity and the challenges of funding has made agriculture less lucrative for the teeming youths of Nigeria lately, appealed to all Nigerians to support the presidency towards ending the ravaging insecurity.
However, Tambuwal while wondering why President Muhammadu Buhari is logically striving to shy away from his responsibility as the Commander-in-Chief of the Federation in the face of the intractable security challenges across the country, reiterated that issue of security as stipulated by the Constitution is under the exclusive legislative list of the federal government.
Diagnosing president Muhàmmadu Buhari's blame on govenors over security lapses in their respective States, Tambuwal asked, "who is the commander in chief?. Why should the President blame governors for what is initio his duty? As a governor, if I give a particular directive to the Garrison Commander, Director SSS, or any commander in the paramilitary forces, they have to clear from Abuja.
"And those bosses they are answerable to, must in turn report to the President who is the Commander-in-Chief as stipulated by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria"
Tambuwal in his advise appealed to the President to address the prevailing security challenges in the country, saying as governors, they are ready to compliment and support whatever effort being made by the Federal Government in re-establishing security in their respective States.
''All the governors are working tirelessly towards complimenting him (the President), the Service Chiefs, and the Service Personnel that are on ground,'' Governor Tambuwal said.
