* Directs Prompt And Proper Handling Of Cases

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, on Wednesday, conducted an unscheduled inspection of the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID) Cell.
During the visit, he assessed conditions at the detention facility, interacted with detainees and officers on duty, as well as reviewed the welfare and status of suspects in custody, including individuals being investigated for capital offences.
The State Police boss directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State CID to ensure strict compliance with statutory procedures, humane treatment of suspects, and diligent management of all ongoing investigations.
He further emphasized the need for timely and meticulous conclusion of investigations, in line with directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and stressed that all cases should be properly documented and expeditiously charged to court where appropriate.
Superintendent of Police, Daniel Ndukwe, the Spokesman of the Command, said in a statement on Wednesday, that the inspection forms part of ongoing efforts by the Command to strengthen accountability, enhance detention management standards, and ensure professionalism in investigative processes across the Command's investigative units.
