The Anambra State Police Command, Friday, observed a concerning pattern of comments and narratives following reports of the Panel of Enquiry on the Awka Traditional Stool, which may pose a threat to public peace and order.
Consequently, the Command has placed operatives of the Anti-Cult Unit and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awka Sector, on alert to proactively address any potential security concerns arising from the situation.
Additionally, all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and their operatives across the State, especially within Awka, have intensified security surveillance, intelligence gathering, and visibility patrols to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
To this end, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, urges all stakeholders and members of the public to exercise restraint, avoid inflammatory statements, and refrain from actions capable of inciting unrest. He emphasized that individuals or groups found engaging in acts that threaten public peace will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
The Command, according to a statement on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, a Superintendent of Police, remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. NNL.
