For personal safety and security reasons, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned 2026 Batch A Stream II prospective corps members posted to Osun state of the dangers of embarking on night journey in their bid to arrive on time for the April 22 orientation exercise.
This advise which was given on Tuesday by the Osun state NYSC Coordinator, Mr Ita Kubiangha urged prospective Corp members to prioritize safety and security by making their journeys only during the day time, and also using recognized motor companies and parks.
A statement by the scheme’s spokesperson in Oshogbo, Osun state capital, Mrs Catherine Otemuyiwa, however, urged transport unions in the state to assist corps members by conveying them to the orientation camp at approved rates.
Kubiangha said the three-week orientation exercise for 2026 Batch A Stream II corps members will hold from April 22 to May 12, while the swearing-in ceremony would take place on April 24.
“We advise corps members that night travel exposes them to risks, including accidents and security threats. Parents and guardians should support and encourage their children as they undertake this phase of national service,” he said.
The Osun NYSC boss urged corps members to adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and remain security conscious. He stressed on the commitment of the scheme and stakeholders to the welfare and security of all corps members deployed to the state and other locations in the country. NNL.
