A group of aspirants who lost in the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections for seats in the Bauchi State House of Assembly have vowed to remain loyal to the party despite expressing dissatisfaction with the conduct of the exercise.
Operating under the umbrella of the Bauchi State House of Assembly 2026 APC Aspirants Forum, the aggrieved politicians said they would pursue reconciliation and reforms within the party rather than defect to opposition parties.
Speaking during a press briefing in Bauchi, the forum’s spokesperson, Hon. Gazali Wunti, said the group’s position was driven by a commitment to strengthening the APC ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
According to him, many aspirants and their supporters were disappointed by the outcome of the primaries, which they believed did not meet expectations of a transparent and competitive democratic process.
Wunti noted that the aftermath of the primaries had already led to defections by some party members, describing the development as a setback for the APC.
He, however, said members of the forum chose a different path by remaining in the party and advocating constructive engagement with the leadership.
The forum commended APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, and the National Working Committee for initiating a review of the primary election process and urged that the exercise be transparent and inclusive.
The aspirants also called for greater participation in party affairs, appointments and campaign structures, stressing that fairness and justice were essential for party unity.
They reaffirmed their commitment to working for the APC’s victory in future elections while urging the leadership to address grievances capable of undermining cohesion within the party. NNL.
