The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, has described the re-election of the state governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, as a justification of the confidence reposed in him by the good people of the state.
The felicitation of the NUJ was contained in a press statement jointly signed by the council chairman and secretary, Umar Sa’idu and Isah Garba Gadau respectively.
The statement said that the even spread of people’s oriented projects by the governor across the state, informed the decision of the people to grant him another chance to consolidate his past achievements.
The NUJ Bauchi Council while wishing the governor a successful tenure in office in his second term, however urged him to put political differences aside and carry everybody along for the continuous progress and development of the state.
The union also enjoined the governor to focus more attention on the resuscitation of the state-owned media organisations as well as the engagement of casual workers within to address the brain drain syndrome facing them as well as to extend more hands of friendship to other sister media organisations in the state.
While assuring of the union’s continuous support to the present administration, the statement, however, calls on its members to carry out their constitutional roles with decorum as anyone found wanting will be penalised.
The Bauchi Journalists body finally reminds the state governor of the need to redeem his pledge of reconstructing its state secretariat to ensure a conducive environment for members of the pen profession to operate effectively. NNL
