* Wins 2021 MAN Reporter Of The Year Award

Renowned female Journalist and Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of ORIENTAL NEWS ONLINE, one of Nigeria's leading digital media, Mrs Yemisi Izuora, has won the coveted 2021 Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) Reporter of the Year Award.

Yemisi, who is currently the National Treasurer of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), an elite media body for distinguished and credible digital Journalism Publishers in Nigeria, clinched the award as winner of the Online Category, with a 65 points score.

Izuora's victory/award is viewed as a plus for GOCOP whose leadership has consistently preached hardwork, professionalism, good ethical conducts and healthy corporate governance practices among its media entrepreneur members.

The award which was held at the head office of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) in Ikeja, Lagos, is the 6th edition of the award as well as the MAN Presidential Media Luncheon 2022. The 2021 Award ceremony however attracted key government functionaries, policy makers and the top echelon in the nation's manufacturing industry.

The MAN Media Award is a highly competitive contest which attracts highly researched contents from the traditional media organizations, the broadcast sector and Online media.

President of MAN, Mansur Ahmed, who spoke at the capacity filled award event, said, “I would like to acknowledge the esteemed presence of some members of MAN National Council from our branches and sectoral groups who have joined me to celebrate our friends in the media today. I thank you all for coming.

“Gentlemen of the press, your outstanding support through the years is indeed worthy of commendation. We applaud your contributions as partners in building a productive and prosperous nation by joining us to advocate for conducive manufacturing environment.

“I must acknowledge the role you played during the Association’s 50th Anniversary Celebration last year, you definitely made the occasion remarkable with your objective news feature and broadcast that centered on the very essence of the Anniversary theme 'Building a Resilient and Competitive Manufacturing Sector,' " Ahmed stated.

The MAN boss however thanked the Nigerian media generally for their kind understanding especially on some occasions that he could not entertain some interview requests for time constraints. He said, “From submissions received, I have received positive feedback on the quality of published and broadcasted works submitted for the Award and I am highly impressed at your level of commitment to this project of nation building through your reportage.

“Later today, awardees will be announced and recognized. But I need to emphasize that you are all winners in your own right. The work you do is very critical and MAN is delighted to have you as partners.

“You will agree with me that the manufacturing sector deserves more critical attention, giving the plethora of challenges that our members face in the course of production. We are expectant that with your consistent push and noticeable collaboration there would be improvement in the manufacturing landscape.”

Other winners of the award alongside Yemisi Izuora, in the various categories are: Mr Simon Ugwu of Energy Frontier who secured second place to Yemisi Izuora in the award win with 63 points; Mr Taiwo Hassan of New Telegraph won the Newspaper Category with 86 points, while Mr Sylvester Enoghase of the Daily Independent newspapers won second place in the newspaper category with 83 points.

Mrs Nkeiruka Nwokedi of the African Independent Television (AIT) won in the Television Category, scoring 74points. Her runner-up is Muri Television (MITV) Mr Abiola Ismail who scored 65 points and In the Radio Category, Mrs Ebere Obike of Radio Nigeria won the award with 79 points, while Mrs Rhoda Ogunseye of Daar Communication's Raypower Radio came second place scoring 50 points.

However, in the Photo Journalist Category, Mr Godwin Irekehe of New Telegraph Newspaper won the award with 76 points, while Mr Olawale Amoo of the Business Day Newspapers came second place 71 points. NNL.
