The Nigeria media industry was rattled by shock on Wednesday, as it lost one of its senior practitioner, Chief (Sir) Joe Nwankwo, to the cold hands of untimely death.
Confirming the passage of the young journalist, who, until his death, was the Executive Director (Publications) of Authority newspapers, the management of the newspaper in a statement on Wednesday evening, December 14, 2022 signed by Mr Chuks Akunna, it's Executive Director (Business Development) and made available to the media by the Editor of Authority newspapers, Chief Malachy Uzendu, said Chief Nwankwo died after a brief illness in Abuja, at the age of 50.
The Authority Newspaper management wrote thus in the statement: "The Management and Staff of The AUTHORITY Newspapers announce the death of Chief (Sir) Joe Nwankwo, our Executive Director (Publications).
"He worked in several media houses including Daily Times, The Sun, Daily Independent, before becoming one of the founding Directors of The AUTHORITY. He rose through the ranks of journalism profession to the position of Executive Director, The Authority Newspapers. "He died after a brief illness in Abuja, aged 50.
"He is survived by his wife and three children. Burial arrangements will be announced by the family". NNL.
