Unknown gunmen numbering about five, on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, abducted Barrister Mohammed Abubakar, the Secretary of Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC), at his residence in Bakin Rijiya village, along Lafia- Shendam road.

The Police Public Relation (PPRO) of Nasarawa State Police Commercial, ASP Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the incident in a statement this morning, said kidnappers invaded the victim's residence and whisked him away.

The statement also said the new Commissioner of Police, Adesina Soyemi, has immediately led a detachment of Police personnel comprising of officers of the Anti Kidnapping unit, Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit and other tactical units of the Command to the scene.

The statement added that the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has also directed his men to move to the scene to conduct a comprehensive investigation in order to unveil the faces of those responsible for the commission of the despicable act, rescue the victim and arrest the perpetrators.

CP Adesina Soyemi also called on members of the public to help the police with useful information that will aid the police with the investigation.

All efforts to reach the family of the abducted NASEIC Secretary to know whether the kidnappers have demand ransom proved abortive. NNL.
