A popular hotelier in Ile Ife, Ramon Adedoyin, was arrested on Wednesday by the Osun State Police Command along with five others in connection with the death of a Post-graduate Masters Degree student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Mr Timothy Adegoke.
The deceased, according to police report, met his gruesome death when he allegedly came to the OAU Distance Learning Centre, Moro Campus of the university to take an examination but was declared missing.
The Osun State Police Command's spokesman, Yemisi Opalola, revealed on Wednesday that there was a case of a missing person earlier reported at Eden Abon Police Station on Sunday November 7, 2021. The matter, he stated, was later transferred on Tuesday November 9 to the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation. Consequently, the police spokesman said, the detectives arrested 6 suspects in connection with the case.
Opalola in a statement however revealed that in addition to the six persons so far arrested, the chairman of Hilton Hotel and Resort, Ile-Ife, Dr Ramon Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin was also arrested on Monday November 15, 2021.
According to the police, Adegoke "is currently in police detention, undergoing interrogation in connection with the case while awaiting the autopsy report from the hospital.”
Report also said that Adedoyin and his worker, Adedeji Adesola, were accused earlier of having a hand in the disappearance of one Mr Timothy Adegoke. Between October 22 and November 5, 2021, the deceased, it was learnt, had been a guest at the said Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife, in Osun State, before he was eventually declared missing on Saturday November 6 when he could not be found at the exam hall and no one, particularly his wife and family members could reach him.
Adegoke was eventually found dead, according to the police, without providing details of how, when, and where he was found. The deceased student was however confirmed to have lodged in the hotel on Friday, November 5, a day ahead of his exams scheduled for Saturday and Sunday November 6 and 7. NNL.
