Killers suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in the early hours of monday, attacked Tor-Damisa community in Donga local government of Taraba State, killing over 20 people.

The incident was confirmed by Chief Uma Ugondo, the Village Head of Tor-Damisa, who told newsmen on phone that they were still recovering bodies of those killed.

Ugondo explained that there was a little misunderstanding between the Fulani herders with Tiv farmers. He said that he had made frantic efforts with the Fulani leaders to restore normalcy, to no avail.

"We had an issue with fulani herders but we reached a truce and they had assured us of peace. "I am taken a back as we wake up this morning to witness a massive attack on our community, as over 15 villages had been razed down and many feared dead.

"As am talking to you now, we are yet to recover all the bodies of those killed but more than 20 corpses have been recovered. We are in a situation of despair as we would not know weather the attack will continue, so am calling on the state to provide security and as well intervene with relied materials for thousands.of people that have been rendered homeless.

At this moment of filing this report, the police public related officer in Taraba State s yet to confirm the incident. NNL.
