The Federal Ministry of Education says the Jan.18, 2021 date for schools to resume is not sacrosanct, hence a new date may be announced depending on the nation’s COVID-19 indicators.

The Minister of Education, Mr. Adamu Adamu, gave the hint on Monday in Abuja, at the joint national briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the PTF in December 2020, ordered schools in the country to remain closed until Jan. 18, 2021.

Adamu said, “When we decided on that date, it was just a target toward what we are working on.

’Of course, we are keeping it in view and looking at what is happening in the society and then it is supposed to be subject to constant review.

“’ Even today at the PTF meeting, we looked at the rising figures and thought we should probably take another look at it. On the Jan.18, 2021 date for schools resumption, we are reviewing it,” he said.

The minister added that the issue was considered at the PTF meeting held on Monday and the ministry would take it up on Tuesday. ( source: nan). NNL.

Bauchi State House of Assemblymember representing Bogoro state constituency, Honourable Musa Wakili Nakwada, has debunked the allegation of a rift between the legislative and executive arms of the state government, saying the relationship is very cordial, despite party differences.

The lawmaker who was fielding questions from newsmen in Bauchi said that all the members of the house are united and working towards the progress of the state. He stressed that there are no factions and division among them.

"While we are in the House and elsewhere, we are all united. There is no issue of either APC, PDP, or NNPP. Ours is to work for the interest of Bauchi state. The Relationship between the Legislature and the Executive in Bauchi state is 100 percent excellent. The PDP government is for the benefit of the entire state irrespective of party affiliations, religious differences, which carries everybody along" he said

He commended Governor Bala Mohammed for fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of the state, particularly in the area of road construction projects which have impacted the people positively.

“I am delighted because I have been crying to the Governor about the construction of Bogoro – Lusa road in my constituency because of the deplorable condition of the road and he promised that if God enables him to win the election, he will construct the road”.

“Thank God we have witnessed the historic flag-off of the construction of these two roads, Bogoro – Lusa and Boi – Tapshin in Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa LGAs respectively. In politics, it is one thing for somebody to make a promise and it is another thing for him to fulfill the promise. So I am happy that he has promised and fulfilled it. I am also happy that as a legislator, I brought this issue of road construction as a motion on the floor of the House and members overwhelmingly supported me”, he added

He however pleaded with the Governor to also look into other demands of the people in the area, even as he urged the people of his constituency to continue to support the road construction company for the timely completion of the two road projects in Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa local government area of the state.
