Nasarawa state government in collaboration with the Federal Capital Territory FCT administration, is to develop and build a 13, 000 mega city five kilometer away from Maitama, to reduce insecurity between the FCT and Nasarawa state.
Addressing a press conference in Lafia on Sunday, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on public Affairs Peter Ahemba, explained that the state government has concluded a collaborative discussion with the FCT administration to build 13,000 hectares Gurku/Kabusu Mega city that is only five kilometers away from Maitama.
The governor's SSA who denied reports in the media that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has nothing to do with the up coming governorship election tribunal judgement, explained that Governor Sule's visit to Wike was to discuss metroline project and not politics.
According to the governor's aide while reacting to the allegation by the chairman of the opposition PDP, Francis Orogu, who on Saturday, September 16, 2023, claimed that the governor's visit was in connection to the ongoing dispute at the governorship elections petition tribunal.
Ahemba said that contrary to the falsehood by the opposition party, the governor visited the minister to solicit further collaboration on the proposed metro line project from Apo in Abuja to Keffi Local Government Area of the state.
The governor's aide explained that the collaboration became imperative because about 49 percent of those working in FCT live Nasarawa State.
He added that the Governor Sule-led administration would remain steadfast and shall resist being dragged into joining issues with the opposition because it considered that as distraction.
"It is on records that the state has witnessed development in the areas of security, infrastructure, industrialization, investment, human capital development, agriculture, health, education among others since assumption to office in 2019.
"The government decided to put the record straight for the avoidance of doubt by members of the public, who might be misled by the serial false alarm," he added.
He therefore called on members of the public to disregard the falsehood being peddled and promised that the governor would remain committed to improving and developing the state throughout his second tenure. NNL.
