Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, last Thursday evening, secured the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket for his second term bid through affirmation.
The short affirmation ceremony which took place at the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Secretariat in Minna, Niger state capital, had Governor Bago emerging as unopposed after APC card-carrying members from across all 277 wards across the state unanimously endorsed him as their sole candidate for the next dispensation come 2027 general elections in the state.
Chairman of the APC Primaries Election Committee, Alhaji Danladi Abubakar Mohammed in a short remark said the committee was sent to Niger state by the APC national headquarters, Abuja to conduct the governorship primaries.
A motion was shortly after moved for the adoption of Governor Umar Bago as the consensus and sole candidate for the APC Governorship election come 2027 having met the required party constitution by Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, and seconded by the Deputy Speaker and House of Assembly member representing Gurara, Hon. Afiniki Dauda for affirmation.
Also, the party through the Chairman of the APC Primaries Election Committee, Alhaji Danladi Abubakar Mohammed affirmed the 27 state House of Assembly representative candidates for the 25 Local Government Areas of Niger state although four councils emerged through direct primaries while 23 was through consensus.
Niger state APC chairman, Alhaji Aminu Musa Bobi had earlier appreciated party members for the unity, support, understanding, patience in ensuring peaceful conduct of successful primaries.
In his acceptance speech, Governor Umar Bago thanked Nigerlites for the opportunity given him to serve and assured of his commitments towards delivery of more dividends of democracy.
The affirmation, Governor Bago said speaks a lot and shows the bond between him and the people of Niger state, the love for APC as a platform which he assured will not be taken for granted. NNL.
