The authorities of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has denied a social advertisement by unknown persons, claiming that the Anti-corruption agency was currently recruiting personnel into the Commission.

A statement by the management of ICPC and issued by the Commission's Spokesperson, Mrs. Azuka Ogugua, the ICPC says the purported recruitment was a sheer hoax designed by social media scammers to deceive and fleece unsuspecting members of the public. She maintains that no recruitment exercise is being conducted presently by the ICPC.

The short statement reads thus: "The attention of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has been drawn to an advertisement making the rounds on social media, regarding a purported recruitment exercise by the Commission. The notice in the media is in respect of the 2020 recruitment exercise which was suspended.

  1. For the avoidance of doubt, the Commission hereby states as follows:

(a) ICPC is NOT recruiting either directly or through any other entity for any position.

(b) ICPC will never request a fee or any other form of payment from applicants to process their recruitment into the Commission.

(c) Members of the public are advised to be wary of fraudulent persons who may take undue advantage of unsuspecting applicants.
